At Vitae Pharmaceuticals, we’re passionate about discovering and advancing medicines that treat important diseases and can make a difference in people’s lives.

The life science industry has historically been very successful at discovering important medicines, so we are all now quite challenged to improve upon those past accomplishments. To do so, there is a clear and urgent need to address these issues:

Innovation – the ‘low hanging fruit’ are gone, and many of today’s most attractive small molecule drug targets are associated with highly difficult chemistry hurdles and crowded IP spaces.

Speed – competitive pressures are greater than ever before, and speed now has the opportunity to be a tremendous competitive differentiator.

Capital efficiency – the industry simply cannot support the infrastructure costs associated with typical drug discovery success rates of today. Annual budget reductions cannot solve the challenge – new discovery models / approaches are needed to change the game.

Vitae Pharmaceuticals was founded with the goal of creating one such new model – a small molecule discovery and early development organization focused intensely and exclusively on structure-based drug discovery (SBDD). And not just to be a center of excellence in the discipline, but to truly be the best in the world at structure based discovery.

We think we are there. Combining a proprietary structure design platform with scientific and technical experts drawn from large pharma and biotech alike, mixed together in a culture passionate about being the best at SBDD, our results are exciting. Vitae Pharmaceuticals’ 45 scientists have already advanced multiple programs into the clinic across multiple therapeutic categories  – in direct competition with companies around the globe, large and small.
